XU Zhen;ZHANG Ping;DING Lin;

Abstract:

This paper details the methodological processes systematized by the physics education research group at University of Washington to improve phyiscs teaching. The approach starts with identifying and confronting student difficulties in learning physics concepts. It is evidential that instructional reforms need to be anchored in physics education research, and that the challenge-riddent tasks of physics curriculum development must be leveraged by long-term sustainable research funding mechanisms.
